Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support ongoing tax compliance efforts with a focus on Sales & Use Tax and Unclaimed Property filings . This role will assist with monthly and quarterly tax filings, process checks and EFT submissions, and manage data collection for reporting. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and comfortable working with billing systems to ensure timely and accurate filings.

Tax Accountant Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.

• Ensure timely submission of EFT filings , with deadlines typically on or before the 20th of each month.

• Assist with quarterly filings in October and other year-end reporting requirements.

• Manage check requests and submissions , including mailing and tracking.

• Perform summer checks and support any seasonal tax compliance needs.

• Support unclaimed property filings , due at the end of October.

• Extract and run reports from the billing system to identify relevant data for tax filings.

• Monitor and reconcile tax-related data for accuracy and compliance.

• Collaborate with the finance team to plan for transitions and changes expected in January and beyond.

Tax Accountant Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in tax accounting, preferably with sales & use tax exposure.

• Familiarity with state and local tax regulations .

• Experience with unclaimed property filings is a plus.

• Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial/billing systems.

• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
