JOB SUMMARY
The College of Engineering at the University of Connecticuts Stamford Campus is seeking a full-time, professional staff Academic Advisor 2. Academic advising is mandatory for every student, every semester, and the timely monitoring of degree progress is critical for the College of Engineerings ABET accreditation. The modality of this position is hybrid, with significant on-campus expectations and some opportunities for remote work. Occasionally, travel to other campuses is required.
This Advisor would primarily advise first and second year engineering students in registering for coursework, understanding, and interpreting academic policies, and navigating the nuances of their transition to the college experience. Additionally, the Advisor coaches students regarding appropriate educational and career goals and provides administrative oversight for the coordination and implementation of programs intended to increase student retention and academic success. In addition to advising current engineering students, the Advisor will review plans of study, assist students on academic notice with academic success advising, support students at orientation, teach a first-year experience course, and complete other related responsibilities.
This position will report to the Director for the Undergraduate Program, Regional Campuses & Students in Transition at the Storrs campus. This position will work closely and collaboratively with the Stamford Computer Science Faculty Director and the Stamford Director of Advising. This position receives support from a Storrs-based Engineering advising team and also from a community of professional academic advisors at Stamford.
The College of Engineering seeks a highly independent and team-oriented advisor with creative ideas about student support and development to fill this Academic Advisor role.

This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidates background and experience.?Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
