Job Description

The HT Group is currently partnering with a West Austin-based consultancy in the search for a qualified Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. This individual will play a key role in managing the company’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning efforts. The ideal candidate has strong technical tax knowledge, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic mid-sized corporate environment.

Direct Hire – Hybrid (West Austin, TX) - $90-115K+ bonus DOE

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns, including estimated tax payments and extensions.
• Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Assist with quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, including deferred tax calculations and tax footnote disclosures.
• Conduct tax research and interpret complex tax regulations to support compliance and planning initiatives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on business transactions, including M&A, intercompany transfers, and restructuring.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and tax savings.
• Support external audits and coordinate with tax authorities during inquiries or audits.
• Maintain and update tax compliance systems and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
• Manage special projects and consultant activity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA certification or actively pursuing.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, preferably in both public accounting and industry.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws and ASC 740.
• Proficiency with ProSystem FX tax software and intermediate-to-advanced MS Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
