Summary:

Drill Out Operator III is a senior level position responsible for leading drill out operations while prioritizing safety and efficiency. This role involves executing operation and maintenance of drill out equipment, collecting data, leading supporting field personnel, and collaborating with management teams. Drill Out Operator III will gain hands-on experience and develop skills necessary for advancement within the company.

Requirements:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safety protocols by consistently using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Lead the execution of drill out operations, monitoring pressures and flowrates, measuring tank levels, rig up & rig down, etc. under the Drillout Operational Manager.
  • Operate drillout equipment, including choke manifolds, plug catchers, and pressure gauges, while following standard operating procedures.
  • Collect and document data from drillout operations, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting to customer or internal teams as required.
  • Lead and supervise field maintenance tasks and troubleshoot minor to major issues with drillout equipment.
  • As needed, assist in the inspection and re-kitting of drillout packages in shop environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and management teams to support operational objectives and enhance overall team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drill Out Operations: Lead routine & complex drillout process, including rig up, drillout operations with coil, snubbing or rig, rig down.
  • Equipment Management: Operate and maintain drillout equipment safely, performing minor to major repairs under minimal supervision.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Collect and record data during operations, providing accurate documentation to the team.
  • Safety Compliance: Participate and lead in safety training and meetings, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other field personnel and support teams to coordinate tasks and resolve operational challenges. Often mentors less experienced field personnel.
  • Quality Assurance: Follow standard operating procedures to ensure data integrity and quality in testing methods.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification is a plus.
  • 7 years of experience in oil field drill out pressure control operations required, 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong understanding of drill out techniques and equipment is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Has experience sitting frac watch, frac support and familiar with accumulator use and functionality.
  • Must be able to run a torque wrench safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to train / mentor less experienced field personnel.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50-100 lbs and working long hours in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • Must be able to operate all relevant drillout related tooling and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Work in high-noise environments (over 85 dBA) with appropriate hearing protection.
  • Adapt to outdoor conditions, including extreme weather and various terrains.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Training Requirements:

  • PEC/SafeLand certification.
  • Forklift and Aerial Lift training (as required).
  • H2S certification.
